Brief Bios
David Axelrod is a Democratic political consultant currently serving as senior strategist to President Obama’s re¬-election campaign. After leading then Senator Barack Obama's historic 2008 campaign, Axelrod worked in the White House as senior adviser to the President until February 2011.
Axelrod’s political career started in 1988 when he co¬founded AKPD Message and Media, where he managed the media and communications strategy for more than 150 local, state and national campaigns. In addition to politics, Axelrod is active in charity work. In 1998 he and his wife Susan helped found Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE), which has raised more than $18 million to fund research. Recently, Axelrod announced his plan to launch an Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago in January of 2013.
