Born in Siberia, Luba Poliak was eleven years old when she first appeared with the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1990, she emigrated to Israel, where she continued her studies and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Rubin Academy in Tel-Aviv. She studied in Brussels and in Boston at the New England Conservatory of Music where she earned a Master's Degree with Honors. She completed her doctorate in May 2008 at SUNY–Stony Brook.
Her teachers have included Michael Boguslawsky, Gabriel Chodos, Patricia Zander and Gilbert Kalish. Ms. Poliak has participated in master classes given by Leon Fleisher, Andras Schiff, Murray Perahia, Joseph Kalichstein, Bella Davidovich, Misha Dichter and others. She has performed in Russia, Israel, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Australia. Ms. Poliak has received numerous grants from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and was a fellow at the Aspen and Verbier Music Festivals as well as at the exclusive "German for Singers and Vocal Coaches" program at Middlebury College. In 2003, she was invited to join the staff of the Bowdoin Music Festival. After winning the SUNY -Stonybrook Concerto Competition in 2004, Ms. Poliak performed the Ravel G Major Concerto with the Stony Brook Symphony, conducted by David Stern. Ms. Poliak is a faculty member of 92nd Street Y, the Closter Music Academy and a very active soloist and chamber musician. Recent performances include solo recitals at the Roerich Museum in New York, Fort Hays University, Hays, Kansas and at Middlebury College, Vermont; a violin and piano recital at the Embassy Concert Series in Washington, DC, as well as numerous appearances with various chamber music ensembles in New York City and Long Island. Luba Poliak was a guest artist and teacher at the Summer Piano Camp 08 that was hosted by the Fort Hays University and staff member of the 2008 Heifetz International Music Institute in Maine.

Who is eligible for priority registration?
Individuals who have participated in 92nd Street Y programs over the past year in selected program areas, participants in certain memberships, and those who have made contributions of $500 or more to 92Y, are eligible to register for programs before they become available to the general public.
How do I know if I qualify?
Patrons that qualify for Priority Registration will receive packets in the mail explaining how to purchase online. Priority registration is normally mailed 2-3 weeks before a catalog is available. Registration information includes your Patron ID#. You can use this ID# to setup your login information online. This will allow you to register early for a course or event. Please note: if you receive a packet, you are only eligible to priority register for the programs covered in your packet.
