Brief Bios

Laura Barger is a founding member of piano-percussion quartet Yarn/Wire. In 2012, TimeOutNY named Yarn/Wire's residency at Issue Project Room one of the year's top ten live classical music performances. The ensemble is admired for their energetic and precise performances of new music, and has been in residency at universities across the US such as Princeton, Stanford, Columbia, Vanderbilt, and this fall will make their debut at the Festival of New American Music in Sacramento. In addition to her work with Y/W, Laura has performed across the US, Canada and Europe as a dedicated interpreter of contemporary music in a variety of idioms. She is currently on faculty at John Jay College and the 92nd St Y School of Music.

Described by the New Yorker as “the young Irish piano phenom”, pianist Isabelle O’Connell has performed across the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, France, Germany, Italy and Ireland. Recent solo engagements have included a performance at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and performing Kevin Volans’ piano concerto with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. Her debut solo album Reservoir was released in 2010 to critical acclaim and features solo piano music by nine contemporary Irish composers. Isabelle is co-founder of GrandBand, New York’s new music piano sextet, described by The New York Times as: "six of the finest, busiest pianists active in New York's contemporary-classical scene”. As a chamber musician, Isabelle has performed with the CRASH ensemble,  Alarm Will Sound and Ergodos ensemble. She has also performed with John Adams at Carnegie's Zankel Hall, Meredith Monk at the Bang on a Can Summer Festival and with the New Zealand String Quartet at the Banff Centre for the Arts. Isabelle has a reputation for being a dynamic interpreter and energetic advocate of music by 20th and 21st century composers, regularly commissioning and premiering new works. Her performances have been broadcast on radio and television on both sides of the Atlantic, including WNYC, WQXR, WFMT Chicago, BBC3, RTE, TV3 and Lyric FM. For more info check out:

92Y YourStage provides a venue for independent curators, performers, and educators to mount a professional production. Yourstage events are confirmed once they meet a threshold for ticket sales by a certain date.

Who is eligible for priority registration?

Individuals who have participated in 92nd Street Y programs over the past year in selected program areas, participants in certain memberships, and those who have made contributions of $500 or more to 92Y, are eligible to register for programs before they become available to the general public.

How do I know if I qualify?

Patrons that qualify for Priority Registration will receive packets in the mail explaining how to purchase online. Priority registration is normally mailed 2-3 weeks before a catalog is available. Registration information includes your Patron ID#. You can use this ID# to setup your login information online. This will allow you to register early for a course or event. Please note: if you receive a packet, you are only eligible to priority register for the programs covered in your packet.
