The course aims to teach the modes of the major and harmonic minor scales and how they apply to improvising over jazz standards.
Part of each class is devoted to improvising over easy standards and jazz tunes such as "Autumn Leaves," "Black Orpheus" and "Blue Monk."
Basic instrumental proficiency and chord-reading skills required. Bassists, guitarists and pianists should be able to read chord symbols at a minimum and others should be decent readers.
