    Melanie Adsit is a museum educator and educational consultant specializing in contemporary art. Melanie has worked in the education departments of The Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Queens Museum of Art, her students ranging in age from 8 to 80. At the Whitney Museum, she has contributed extensive research and writing on modern and contemporary art to their educational publications and online teaching resources. She has guest lectured on contemporary art at NYU and served as member of the New York City Department of Education's Blueprint Enhancement Committee. She is also Program Director of Foster Pride, a non-profit organization that provides free after-school art programs to children and youth in foster care.     Instructor: Donna Harkavy  show bio

    Donna Harkavy is a New York-based independent curator. She received her M.A. in Art History from Hunter College and her B.A. in English from Tufts University. She began her curatorial career at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and later worked as Exhibitions Coordinator at ICI in New York. From 1990-1995 Ms. Harkavy was Curator of Contemporary Art at the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts, where she founded a contemporary art program. She is currently on the Board of Trustees of Foster Pride, Dorsky Gallery Curatorial Projects and the Raoul Hague Foundation. In addition, she serves on the Museum Advisory Board of the Munson-Williams-Procter Arts Institute Museum of Art, the Advisory Board of RxArt, the Advisory Board of 601 Tully Street and the Education Advisory Committee at The Jewish Museum.

    Instructor: Riva Blumenfeld  show bio

    Riva Blumenfeld received her M.A. from Hunter College, New York City, in 1984, and her B.A. from Washington University, St. Louis, in 1976. Blumenfeld leads tours and workshops at the Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Modern Art for school groups K-12. She has taught at the Brooklyn Museum and the St. Louis Art Museum. Blumenfeld curated Totem, drawings by Tom Burckhardt at Tibor de Nagy Gallery, NY, which received an AICA award for best "emerging artist" exhibition, 2002. She served as a consultant to UNICEF and Binney & Smith, where she researched the viability of a Crayola sponsored children's museum, which has since been built. She has guest lectured at the Print Club, Philadelphia, on contemporary prints and multiples, and at the Arkansas Arts Center, Little Rock, on collecting contemporary art.     Margaret Mathews-Berenson is an independent curator, critic and arts manager with over twenty-five years of experience in the art world. Her professional expertise ranges widely from nineteenth-century American art to contemporary art and photography. She founded her own business in 1984 following a career that included curatorial work at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Metropolitan Museum. A dedicated arts professional and activist in the art community, Berenson advises on fundraising and development projects for arts organizations and other non-profit institutions. She has served on the boards of Artists Space, the Dieu Donné Papermill, Swiss Institute and ArtTable. An accomplished writer and lecturer, Berenson is the former editor of Drawing Magazine. Priority registration puts you at the front of the line to register for courses and events for an upcoming semester.

Eligible patrons will be able to order priority registration online.

 

Who is eligible for priority registration?

Individuals who have participated in 92nd Street Y programs over the past year in selected program areas, participants in certain memberships, and those who have made contributions of $500 or more to 92Y, are eligible to register for programs before they become available to the general public.

How do I know if I qualify?

Patrons that qualify for Priority Registration will receive packets in the mail explaining how to purchase online. Priority registration is normally mailed 2-3 weeks before a catalog is available. Registration information includes your Patron ID#. You can use this ID# to setup your login information online. This will allow you to register early for a course or event. Please note: if you receive a packet, you are only eligible to priority register for the programs covered in your packet.
