Each Baby Got Bach concert features opportunities for children to play with real musical instruments, conduct sound experiments and build their own instruments.The fun continues with a live classical concert and the chance to sing and play along with the musicians.
Doors open at 10 am and 12 pm.
These events are approximately 90 minutes in duration.
The Family Music Series is underwritten by Eva Colin Usdan and John Usdan. Generous support is also provided by The Brodsky Family Foundation.
What is “Baby Got Bach”?
Baby Got Bach is an interactive introduction to music geared toward 3- to 6-year-olds, but all ages are welcome. It is the creation of pianist Orli Shaham. She draws on both her background as an internationally renowned musician and her experience as the mother of pre-school twins.
Baby Got Bach events feature Orli along with a rotating roster of friends who are themselves world-class musicians as well as members of 92Y School of Music. Each event lasts 90 minutes and has three parts:
-
BackStage Up Front: Kids play real musical instruments, conduct sound experiments and build their own instruments;
-
SoundCheck Jam: Kids sing familiar songs and play along with percussion instruments
-
MainStage Concert: Everyone heads to the stage for a listening tour of great live chamber music, featuring Ms. Shaham and her friends.
For the past two seasons, Baby Got Bach has been presented at Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village as well as St. Louis, MO. Orli now brings it uptown to share with families here at 92Y.
