An award-winning actor, director, writer, and producer, Alan Cumming has been dazzling audiences ever since his breakthrough role as the Emcee in the 1998 stage revival of "Cabaret."
His films include blockbusters like "X-2: X-Men United" and "The Spy Kids" trilogy, as well as independent films such as "Titus" and "The Tempest" (both directed by Julie Taymor) and "The Anniversary Party" (which he co-wrote and co-directed with Jennifer Jason Leigh). He recently received his second Emmy nomination as Eli Gold in "The Good Wife," and is the host of the PBS series "Masterpiece Mystery." He will join "Reel Pieces" Moderator Annette Insdorf for an onstage discussion following the screening.
"Any Day Now" won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival, as well as the Best Actor Award for Cumming at the Seattle International Film Festival. The Hollywood Reporter wrote, "Depictions of custody battles have become a cinematic staple, but few register with the heartfelt emotion of 'Any Day Now.' This 1970s Los Angeles-set drama about a gay couple fighting to adopt a Down syndrome-afflicted teenager is only loosely inspired by a real story, but the smart screenplay by director Travis Fine and George Arthur Bloom has the ring of truth."
