Rebecca Sive has been a ceramics collector since the 1980's.
In this program, Rebecca will discuss the life and role of the ceramics collector committed to two goals: developing a ceramics collection by emerging artists (from the decades of the 80’s, 90's and 2000's), and making ceramics a fundamental part of everyday life, i.e., by using contemporary functional ceramics by notable makers. Rebecca will share her view of living with art, creating domestic spaces that present art that challenges, as well as comforts. She will discuss collecting for personal joy, versus as a status symbol. And, she will share her view of the importance of supporting living and active ceramic artists, who both excel in the medium and have affirmatively chosen it as the focal point of their artistic lives and careers.
Please Note: All times are Eastern Standard.
