    JoDe Romano "La Chispa" was a guest Teaching artist & graduate of the High School for the Performing Arts in Houston, Texas were she was featured in the Houston Grand Opera Carmen. She has also danced in the Franco Zeffirelli original production of Carmen, starring Placido Domingo and Maria Benitez, at the New York's Metropolitan Opera, including in front of then President & Hilary Clinton, which was broadcast on the PBS series "Live From Lincoln Center" and toured Japan in 1997. For over 20 years, Ms. Romano lived, studied and performed Spanish dance in Spain and Japan, and was a soloist and choreographer for the José Greco Dance Company. She has also danced as part of The Charo Show in Las Vegas with Jerry Lewis. She has choreographed The Broadway Workshop production of Rita Hayworth-Hollywood Goddess, numerous zarzuelas (traditional Spanish operas) and the mixed media dramatic presentation, Picasso's Guernica, at The Thalia Theater in New York. Ms. Romano has taught workshops at The Alvin Ailey Studio and Ballet Hispanico and has also been featured on the "Dr. Oz" show teaching a castanet workout. Currently, Ms. Romano conducts Spanish dance and castanet classes for adults at 92nd Street Y's Harkness Dance Center where she has taught for over 15 years and is a graduate of the 92Y Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) program. She was recently a guest teacher at Hunter College and co-developed and taught a DEL workshop. She also teaches at Studio Maestro and Steps in New York, as well as other locations throughout the NY metropolitan area. She is available for performances, lecture demonstrations, workshops and has completed a series of instructional DVDs on castanet and flamenco movement techniques. Priority registration puts you at the front of the line to register for courses and events for an upcoming semester.

Eligible patrons will be able to order priority registration online.

 

Who is eligible for priority registration?

Individuals who have participated in 92nd Street Y programs over the past year in selected program areas, participants in certain memberships, and those who have made contributions of $500 or more to 92Y, are eligible to register for programs before they become available to the general public.

How do I know if I qualify?

Patrons that qualify for Priority Registration will receive packets in the mail explaining how to purchase online. Priority registration is normally mailed 2-3 weeks before a catalog is available. Registration information includes your Patron ID#. You can use this ID# to setup your login information online. This will allow you to register early for a course or event. Please note: if you receive a packet, you are only eligible to priority register for the programs covered in your packet.
