Lower East Side Synagogues The Jewish Community of Revolutionary- and Colonial-Era New AmsterdamTrace the early history of Jewish colonial New York. Visit important Jewish sites and learn about their historical signifi-cance, including the early Spanish and Portuguese rented synagogue and the Mill Street Synagogue, the first built in North America. Also visit Congregation Shearith Israel's cemetery at Chatham Square (now Chinatown). Meet at the corner of Pearl and Broad streets, across from Fraunces Tavern Museum.

Discover the neighborhood sites with an experienced guide from the Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy, a nonprofit Jewish educational organization.
