Dance Education Laboratory [DEL]
92Y Recommends:
Dance Therapy Training

Jody Gottfried Arnhold, founder
John-Mario Sevilla, director

The Dance Education Laboratory is a professional development program for all educators and artists interested in developing their dance education curricula. All DEL courses align with the New York City Department of Education Blueprint for Teaching and Learning Dance in grades K-12. Graduate or undergraduate college credit can be arranged with SUNY Empire State College for an additional fee. The 92nd Street Y is a vendor listed with the New York City Department of Education.

Teacher education has been an integral part of the Y Dance Center's history. In the 1950s and '60s, dance education pioneer Bonnie Bird developed an extensive training program at the Y for children's dance educators. Today the Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) sustains our commitment to teacher education through dance education workshops and courses. A practical alternative to traditional university programs, DEL addresses the needs of dancers and dance teachers who want to develop and sharpen their teaching skills to teach effectively in a wide variety of settings.

Interview and application required for all new students. Call 212.415.5551 or email for further information.
