In 2009-2010 the 92nd Street Y Dance Center will celebrate its 75th Anniversary. As one of New York's founding institutions supporting contemporary dance and as the oldest U.S. dance institutions still in its original location, we have much to celebrate. We invite new and returning dance artists, patrons and lovers of dance of all generations to teach, perform, reminisce and dance with us!

Since 1935, the 92nd Street Y has been a historic home of modern dance, nurturing the talents of such dance pioneers as Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, Charles Weidman, Anna Sokolow, Hanya Holm, Alvin Ailey, Merce Cunningham, Robert Joffrey, Pearl Primus And Lester Horton. These artists created, performed and taught at the Y, building the foundation for contemporary dance as we know it. Today, with generous support from the Harkness Foundation for Dance, the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center continues to be a home for dance teaching, creation and performance, serving the professional world and the community at large.
