Emanuel & The Fear / Food Will Win the War / I Seem To Be A Verb
With a sound that derives itself from composers and songwriters across the board, Emanuel & the Fear is an extraordinary 11-piece orchestra-rock band that focuses on intertwining the modern day pop song with extravagant and complex composition. Fusing influences from romantic and modern composers like Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Glass with modern rock sounds like Arcade Fire, Bright Eyes, Daft Punk and Sufjan Stevens, Emanuel & the Fear transfix audiences with their climactic electro/orchestral arrangements and evocative lyrics.
"A massively ambitious rock and roll orchestra incorporating everything from violin and cello to trumpet and trombone, not to mention the standard guitar, bass, drums and piano.... the tidy and immaculately composed classical arrangements and the subtle electronic flourishes give the whole thing a much grander feel."—L Magazine's 8 bands You Need to Hear 2009
Food Will Win the War is the Charlie Kaufman of New York Indie Rock. They'll put butter on your bread if you're willing to toast it before you arrive. FWWtW is a useful adhesive. For instructions on use, visit Food Will Win the War.
I Seem To Be A Verb is 9 players, (some cuter than others) each related to each other by a cosmic mix-up at the immigrations bureau. After a year of practicing behind closed doors, they have emerged with a new citizenship, sounding like a joyous brawl between Arcade Fire and Burt Bacharach. Verb will make you dance, lounge, sweat and speak in tongues.
