Reverend Billy & The Life After Shopping Gospel Choir have traveled all over the world performing their hot mix of theater, ritual and really good music.
The Church of Life After Shopping is a radical performance community dedicated to the earth, justice, a fair economy and the return of free expression to public space. They pursue these goals through creative resistance to Consumerism, Militarism and the corporations who profit from these systems. Since 1996, the project has expanded from a one-man performance artist preaching against consumerism on the sidewalks of Times Square to a 35-person choir and 7-person band with dozens of original songs, a critically acclaimed stage show, a major motion picture and multiple media platforms. Reverend Billy and co. have performed at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the Highline Ballroom, St. Marks Church on the Bowery and beyond. | |
