 | | | | | Double Feature: Clueless and Mallrats   | | | | | | We're taking you back to 1995 for the two ultimate teenage comedies!
The weekend after Turkey Day often turns into an unofficial high school reunion. You're either home catching up with old friends, or stuck in the city and feeling nostalgic. Here at 92YTribeca, we're giving in to the nostalgia with a double feature of Clueless and Mallrats.
Dress in your favorite mid-90's attire—whether you prefer the knee-socks & pleated skirts of Cher Horowitz or the corduroy blazer grunge look of Brodie—and we'll pick out some jams to set the mood.
$15 includes both films plus one beer.
Clueless Cher is popular and fashion-obsessed, but she'll also very thoughtful and fancies herself a natural matchmaker. When she meets Tai, she takes her on as a makeover case and is determined to find her a boy. But what of Cher's own suffering lovelife? With a soundtrack that includes Coolio as well as The Cranberries, you can't get much more 90's than this.
Director: Amy Heckerling. 97 min. 1995. 35mm.
Mallrats When T.S. and Brodie are both dumped by their girlfriends on the same day, they choose to take their misery to the mall. Meeting up with troublemakers Jay and Silent Bob they collectively hatch a plan to wreak mall havoc and win their loves back. Kevin Smith's film is filled with the best in 90s "alternative" music, including Archers of Loaf and Elastica.
Director: Kevin Smith. 94 min. 1995. DVD. | |
