Harkness Dance Festival

92Y Harkness Dance Festival is a five-week performance festival featuring the finest in innovative dance.

Please join us for our 18th Harkness Dance Festival season entitled STRIPPED/DRESSED, this year curated by Doug Varone. All performances take place in 92Y's intimate performance space, Buttenwieser Hall.

A note from Doug Varone:
The evolution of a new dance takes many unexpected twists, often morphing initial inspirations into vastly new ideas. The concept of Stripped/Dressed allows each artist the chance to demystify that process in their own personal way. The first half of the evening asks the artist to share insights into his/her the creative process: discussing inspirations, showing excerpts, talking with collaborators; all in an informal, stripped setting (no lights or costumes). The second half of the evening presents that same work entirely dressed in its completed theatrical form. Five artists, at various points in their careers and with drastically different processes, participate and share their work in this exciting new forum
