| What's a typical week like at Trailblazers? |
 |
Trailblazers is a uniquely designed program that provides the right balance of independence and supervision for our young teenage campers. The program seeks to challenge campers in age-appropriate ways that allow them to take risks in a safe environment that values each and every camper's contributions.
Each weekday, campers travel to a variety of exciting destinations such as amusement parks, beaches, museums, water parks, sports games, theater shows, and white water rafting. An additional component to the program is Group Days and "creative" days during which campers might go on a New York City Scavenger Hunt or participate in an all-day video project.
Once a week, campers enjoy a "late night" and spend extended time at certain destinations such as Great Adventure, whitewater rafting or an all-day fishing trip. On these days, dinner will be provided (vegetarian options will be available.) Campers return at approximately 8:30pm.

| Who are the Trailblazers staff? |
 |
| At the Y we carefully select our counselors for their maturity, energy, and experience with children. All Trailblazers counselors are college age and older. Before camp begins staff meet with the Camp Director for an orientation period where they learn the camp's philosophy: creating an inclusive community in which campers feel comfortable, safe, and challenged. Counselors have a full understanding of the high expectations that Trailblazers sets for excellence and are fully knowledgeable about the age group with which they will be working. The Trailblazers Director and Assistant Director support the counselors, communicate regularly with parents, and oversee the smooth operation of the program. |

| Is it true that Trailblazers goes on 4-day trips as well? |

That's right! Towards the end of the first session, campers spend four days at Club Getaway in Kent, Connecticut. Club Getaway is a sleepaway camp facility designed to provide teen camps with an extended overnight experience. Children stay in cabins equipped with bathrooms. Three daily meals are provided in one of their three cafeterias and kosher food is provided as well as accommodations for vegetarians. The challenging activities provided during this four-day adventure include banana boating, pioneering, hiking, jousting, wall climbing, gyromat, mountain biking, exciting evening activities, and much more.
At the end of the summer, Trailblazers goes on a four-day excursion that highlights the summer by providing a climactic travel experience. During this trip, campers stay in hotels or dorm-like accomodations, and all meals are provided. Past trips have included exciting destinations such as Washington D.C., Boston, and Montreal. Daily events are diverse, appealing, and always leave campers with memories that last a lifetime.
