New York, NY, August, 17, 2007—The 92nd Street Y brings its famous programs out on to Lexington Avenue for New Yorkers of all ages to enjoy at the 13th Annual Taste-of-the-Y Street Festival. The FREE all-day event takes place Sunday, September 16, from 11 am-5:30 pm on Lexington Avenue between 79th and 94th Streets.

There are Main Stage music and dance performances; activities for kids, including performances for children's at the new Wonderplay™ Stage; fitness demonstrations, health screenings and consultations; and discounts of up to $300 off annual memberships at the 92nd Street Y's health club. There's also a free raffle with chances to win a trip to Jamaica; JetBlue airline tickets; stays at a Loews Hotel in Washington, D.C., and Miami; tickets to 92nd Street Y lectures and music performances; and season passes for the Y's reading series, health club, and teen center.

This year's Taste-of-the-Y Festival features an expanded International Way, a mini-U.N. of booths representing Austria, China, Israel, Jamaica, Mexico, Senegal, Spain, Tanzania, Finland, Poland, Turkey and Germany. Between 91st and 92nd Streets, festival-goers can sample delicacies and discover handicrafts from across the globe — right out on Lexington Avenue. Consulate representatives bring their countries to life in this virtual international community.

FREE FUN FOR KIDS
Kids can choose from a host of FREE activities throughout the day:

Performances on the Wonderplay™ Stage include sing-alongs with 92nd Street Y School of Music faculty members Paul Williams and Karina Zilberman and performances by Afro-Caribbean dancers and Israeli folk dancers Yaffa Garber and Sharona Kahn.

Activities for Kids of All Ages including making s'mores and snacklaces (licorice strands with fruit loops); braiding lanyards; creating Jewish holiday crafts; playing soccer, hopscotch, mini-hoop shoot, football toss, Gaga and Noc Hockey; and checking out demos by the 92nd Street Y Kids Gymnastics Team.

Art Classes Out on the Street including Sculpture & Pottery, Drawing & Painting, and Mixed Media Madness.

Dance Classes Inside the Y including Jazz/Hip Hop, Broadway Jazz, Caribbean, Flamenco, Modern and Ballet... PLUS Dance Center Open House, with faculty members on hand to advise parents on classes.

And for Kids Under 5 There Are Special Activities to celebrate the new 92ND STREET Y WONDERPLAY™: EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING program.

There's lots for parents and other adults to enjoy:

Entertainment on the Main Stage, including performances of ballroom, salsa, and swing, and music from a range of international musicians including Mexico's Erasmo Palma; Russia's Valery Ponomarev; Jamaica's JAMX.

FREE Health and Wellness Activities: Massage Therapy Treatments; Health Screenings for blood pressure, body composition, vision and flexibility; Health Q&A Sessions on heart care, nutrition, and genetics with doctors and other medical experts from Mount Sinai Hospital and New York University; and Fitness Demonstrations of Relentless!, an aggressive fitness challenge including intensive cardio strength moves; Yoga Extreme; Israeli defense art Krav Maga; Postural Intelligence; and Hot Cardio Salsa.

FREE Raffle with prizes that include a Jamaican resort escape complete with airfare; stays in luxurious Loews Hotels in Washington, D.C., and Miami; JetBlue tickets to anywhere the airline flies; and tickets to concerts, lectures and readings at the 92nd Street Y.

Tours of the 92nd Street Y's Health Club And Dance Center. Visit the club's cardio and weight training rooms, racquetball and basketball courts, track, pool, and facilities. Sample classes and consult with faculty at the Dance Center Open House.

International Way, where visitors can enjoy educational games, international food and interactive displays at this mini-U.N. of booths representing Austria, China, India, Israel, Jamaica, Mexico, Senegal, Spain, Tanzania, Finland, Japan, Poland, Turkey and Germany.
