Scholarships


92nd Street Y scholarships enable hundreds of children and adults to participate in the 92nd Street Y's Jewish education, dance, music, art, health, fitness, sports, family, camp, special needs and afterschool programs. The Y welcomes everyone to take advantage of what we offer regardless of financial circumstances. Scholarship assistance is available for both children and adults who qualify based on financial need. We encourage you to apply for assistance and to join the diverse community served by the 92nd Street Y.
Scholarship assistance is available for most Y programs and we welcome your application. Scholarship information and an application [PDF] are available for download. Applications are also available at the Sales and Customer Service Center in the main lobby.
Completed applications should be returned to Scholarship Services and will be processed as quickly as possible. Scholarship Services will notify you by phone or letter about your scholarship request. At that time, you will need to complete the registration process at the Sales and Customer Service Center in the main lobby or at the appropriate department office.

Recanati-Kaplan Program for Excellence in the Arts
Recanati-Kaplan Merit Scholarships Full-tuition Recanati-Kaplan Merit Scholarships for Excellence in the Arts are awarded by audition only in June of the previous academic year.

The Recanati-Kaplan Program for Excellence in the Arts provides full, year-long scholarships based on artistic merit for children and teens to study with the renowned faculty of the 92nd Street Y School of the Arts.
The Music School offers:
  • Private instruction in piano, guitar, voice and all orchestral instruments, for children ages 4-11 years and for teens ages 12-18 years.
  • A newly formed youth orchestra and a jazz ensemble.
  • The only publicly accessible Music Technology Lab in the city, where students can learn to write, record, edit and mix their own music and even synchronize it to video.

  • The Art Center provides
  • A wide variety of age-appropriate, technique-specific courses in architecture, drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry and cartooning.
  • Exciting off-site classes at museums and art galleries.
  • Courses for teens specifically designed to assist students with developing their portfolios for high school and college admissions.

  • The Harkness Dance Center offers
  • A comprehensive curriculum in ballet, choreography, modern, jazz/hip-hop, tap, and social dance.
  • Dance Center performance groups, which include Harkness Repertory Ensemble, the 92nd Street Y Tap Team, the Lindy Hoppers, Fresh Y Crew.
  • Opportunities to work with guest choreographers toward performances both at the 92nd Street Y and throughout New York City.
