Susan Silas, photographer and published in the current issue was posted on newsgrist, a blog devoted to the politics of art and culture in the digital age. She was selected by Lore Segal in the Advanced Fiction Workshop offered in the fall/winter session.

imageMort Zachter, author of Dough: A Memoir won the AWP Prize in nonfiction in 2006 and his memoir was published in September 2007. Over the past few years he's taken writing classes with Hettie Jones and Liz Frank.

Mort wrote in to the Poetry Center to tell us of his appreciation and said:
You have no idea how meaningful your wonderful program is to the many apprentice writers such as myself. Keep up the good work.

Holly Peterson's book The Manny debuted at #16 on the New York Times hardcover fiction bestseller list in July 2007. Along with the "very naughty Joel Schumacher" and a list of hot shot names, Peterson credits Joe Caldwell's Advanced Fiction workshop at the 92nd Street Y with helping her to complete the book.
