You'll get the perfect mix of creating, writing, performing and learning with workshops that 360 around every part of the music business.
You'll also get a unique spin on music study—like looking at music's role in self-expression, in making political and cultural statements, in changing minds and in changing the world.
If music moves you, then you'll find sound inspiration in Passport NYC's Music intensive.
Passport NYC's music intensive, created in partnership with The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at Tisch School of the Arts, is your all-access pass to the city's top music educators, producers and artists—the geniuses behind the tracks, hooks and sounds that get you to listen up.
Lead Advisor:
Jason King is the artistic director and founding full-time faculty member of The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at Tisch School of the Arts and a longtime contributing journalist for magazines like VIBE, Blender and The Village Voice. His company, The Superlatude Music Group, works with independent and major label recording artists to develop brand strategies. King serves on the advisory board of The R&B Foundation and is author of Blue Magic: Spirit and Energy in Popular Music and The Michael Jackson Treasures, which comes out December 2009.

A Day in the Life: A sample of what you might do in a typical
day at Passport NYC*
8-9:45am: Enjoy a delicious breakfast in our rooftop dining tent overlooking NYC.
9:45-10am: Musical Expression—Develop a music vocabulary, get exposure to
music genres, learn to write about and discuss popular music and express your ideas
with a new ear.
10:15-11:15am: Songwriting—Discover what goes into creating a hit song. Practice writing your own songs and receive professional feedback.
11:15am-1pm: Recording & Producing—Build skills or enhance your recording and
producing know how using platform programs like Garage Band and ProTools.
OR
Marketing and Selling—Get inside the music business to understand everything from
how record labels are run to how to read a major label recording contract.
1-1:45pm: Lunch/break
1:45pm-3pm: Sample Afternoon Activities—Meet today's music moguls and find out how they got where they are today, visit top recording studios, record companies, radio stations and live music venues and discover New York's diverse musical influences to map out your own music career path.
