Dr. Miriam Roskin Berger, ADTA
Dance for the Mature Adult & Dance/Movement Therapy
An early pioneer of dance therapy while she performed with the Jean Erdman Theatre of Dance, Dr. Berger teaches dance therapy at New York University and internationally in many countries, including Sweden, Korea, the Netherlands, Greece, Poland, and the Czech Republic. From 1993-2002, Dr. Berger was the Director of the Dance Education Program at NYU. In 2002, she received the Marian Chace Award of the American Dance Therapy Association for fostering international recognition of dance therapy. Dr. Berger is a past president of the ADTA, and former Chair of the National Coalition of Creative Arts Therapies Associations. For 20 years, she was the Director of the Creative Arts Therapies Department at Bronx Psychiatric Center. Currently, Dr. Berger is on the editorial boards of The Arts in Psychotherapy, the American Journal of Dance Therapy, and the Journal of Dance Education and is the vice president of the international committee for the Dance Library of Israel.
