Laura and Jenna Bush Talk with Newsweek's Julia Reed About Education, Reading and Their New Children's Book, Read All About It!

New York, NY, April, 1, 2008—The 92nd Street Y welcomes two of the country's most prominent advocates for literacy and education, Mrs. Laura Bush and her daughter Jenna Bush. The two have written a new children's book, Read All About It! (HarperCollins), encouraging children to embrace the delights of reading. The book is being published on April 22, 2008—the day of the 92nd Street Y event. Laura and Jenna Bush will talk with Julia Reed, a contributing editor at Newsweek and Vogue, about the importance of literacy and education, their passion for reading and their collaboration on the book.Laura Bush is actively involved in advocating on behalf of education, health care and human rights. As Honorary Ambassador for the UN Literacy Decade, she hosted the first-ever White House Conference on Global Literacy in 2006. Jenna Bush's first book, the best-selling Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope, is based on her work with UNICEF. A portion of the proceeds from Read All About It! will benefit two national teacher programs: Teach for America and the New Teacher Project. Julia Reed is the author of Queen of the Turtle Derby and Other Southern Phenomena; her new book, The House on First Street: My New Orleans Story, will be published by Ecco in June.
