Lane Wineski
Director, 92nd Street Y Aquatics Program

An expert on pool safety and swimming instruction, Lane Wineski directs a swimming program that offers instruction to swimmers of all skill levels ranging from six months to 95 years. She supervises a staff of 30 lifeguards, instructors, and coaches, and oversees a wide range of classes from Perfect Strokes and Lifeguard Training to American Red Cross swimming courses. Ms. Wineski also oversees the Flying Dolphins Swim Team, a competitive team for young athletes.

Lane Wineski has been teaching swimming for over 10 years and CRP/AED, First Aid and Lifeguarding for 7 years. She currently holds Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training Instructor certifications from the American Red Cross.

Before joining the 92nd Street Y staff in December 2002, Ms. Wineski worked at the 53rd Street YWCA, the Rye YMCA and the Westchester Parks as a water safety instructor (WSI), lifeguard, and supervisor. She also worked as a teacher's assistant for the New York City Board of Education for two years.

Lane Wineski earned B.A. in Psychology and Education from New York University and is currently working on her M.S. in Education and Special Education at Mercy College. A native of Russia who came to the U.S. at 14, she speaks fluent Russian.
