Since the building opened in 1930, Kaufmann Concert Hall has been home to thousands of performances, readings and lectures. Long heralded as a place to experiment and debut new ideas, Kaufmann Concert Hall enables performers and patrons to explore new horizons.
The classically styled interior allows the theater to operate as a multipurpose venue. Original walnut paneling serves as a lush canvas for the gold-etched names of great leaders, writers and philosophers. The hall's excellent acoustics are admired for live musical performances while its theatrical attributes make it a superb venue for lectures, readings, conferences and spoken word performances.
The sound system upgrade in Kaufmann Concert Hall is made possible by the generous support of Governor George E. Pataki and the Empire State Development Corportation.
The 92nd Street Y also thanks Saul B. Hamond for additional support.
