Katie Down, composer, sound artist, multi-instrumentalist, and occasional troublemaker has created and performed numerous sound scores for theatre and dance companies both in NYC and abroad. She is a classically trained flutist and plays several instruments including guitar, ukulele, dumbek, frame drum, glass and homemade instruments and has created sound designs and scores for several downtown theatre companies. Her music/designs have been heard at Classic Stage Company, PS 122, Dance Theatre Workshop, the Ohio Theatre, SoHo Rep, amongst many others.
She music directs the Sephardic music ensemble, Adelantre and is a member of Winnipeg's two-sister-and-one-cousin ukulele act, The Ukuladies.
