| Shimon Peres Simulcast |
When Shimon Peres reflected on his life and spoke about the history of Israel at the 92nd Street Y in February, audiences in 33 locations across the United States—including Des Moines, Iowa; Omaha, Nebraska; and Palm Springs, California—joined in live. Gathered in theaters, they watched Mr. Peres speak on a screen, and when it came time for questions, they stood up and addressed him as if they were sitting in New York City. |
| This is the kind of event that is the future of performance and lecture programming at the 92nd Street Y. Thanks to visionary donors Philip Milstein and John Rosenthal, who endowed the Milstein/Rosenthal Center for Media and Technology in 1999, the Y has been creating new ways to use technology to reach out to audiences both in the Y's performance spaces and outside it. |
| "Attending lectures and performances at the 92nd Street Y is a quintessentially New York experience," says Melissa Brown Eisenberg, Director of Broadcast Programming. "Only now, you can feel that same kind of engagement and not have to live in New York." |
