Glacéau Supports the 92nd Street Y
Dancing in the Streets
At the 2006 Street Festival—a day of live music, food and fun held outdoors in September—92nd Street Y patrons had a chance to meet the Y's newest sponsor, Glacéau, maker of vitaminwater®, smartwater® and fruitwater®. The company brought one of its signature Glacéau tasting vehicles to the festival, out of which poured high-energy mic'ed emcees playing music and inviting attendees to "spin the bottle" to take home T-shirts, product samples and prizes. The message of Glacéau's presence at the festival: A young, hip company and Y patrons have a lot in common.
The Y's relationship with Glacéau began in the spring of 2006 when Glacéau's founder, J. Darius Bikoff, and his wife, Jill Bikoff, made a personal gift to the Y to support mission-oriented work and educational outreach to the public schools. As they learned more about the Y, the relationship deepened, with both Bikoffs taking on personal leadership roles at the Y—Mrs. Bikoff now serves on the Education Outreach Committee while Mr. Bikoff is lending his considerable knowledge to the Y's re-branding. Both Bikoffs also recognized the immediate opportunity for Glacéau to meet its audience through sponsorship of Y events, such as the Street Festival.
"We are thrilled to be associated with not only such a wonderful family, but also a younger-skewing corporate brand," said Lynne Guggenheim Gregory, Director of Development at the Y. "The programs and activities at the 92nd Street Y are as varied as Glacéau's imaginative beverages. We look forward to deepening and growing the relationship."
