Havaya International 2010 Itinerary Begins in Israel!!!! (Days 1-18)

Day 1
  • Welcome to Israel
  • Drive to Ramat HaSharon stop at Coastal cliff (north coast of Tel Aviv-Yafo) for Shehechiyanu Ceremony
  • Lodging and Dinner in the Community Center in Ramat HaSharon
    Accommodations: Community Center—Ramat HaSharon



    Day 2
  • First day in Tel-Aviv
  • O.D.T Games at "Genesis Forest" for team building
  • Tour of Tel-Aviv
  • Group leadership activity in Ramat HaSharon.
  • Dinner in the Community Center in Ramat HaSharon
  • Accomodations: Community Center—Ramat HaSharon

    Day 3
  • BINA Center for Jewish Identity and Hebrew Culture, as a vibrant center for Jewish learning and Tikkun Olam. We will explore the relationship between social justice activism in contemporary Israel and the values articulated on these issues in generations of Jewish text.
  • The first day of service projects in Israel (at BINA)
  • Free time and Dinner at the New port of Tel-Aviv
  • Accomodations: Community Center—Ramat HaSharon



    Day 4
  • Service project: Project Leket-Gleaning the Fields (Israeli farmers invite Table to Table to harvest their fields and to provide the produce to needy people around the country )
  • Head to Jerusalem
  • Haas promenade—overlooking the Old City
  • Davidson Center—Jerusalem Archaeological Park shows off the remains of Jerusalem's Second Temple
  • The Western Wall Tunnels—During a fascinating tour of the Western Wall Tunnels—Hidden layers of the Wall are revealed underground. They tell the story of ancient Jerusalem and of generations of longing for it.
  • Head to the Hotel - Unpack

  • Accommodations: Jerusalem



    Day 5
  • The Neighborhoods game near Mahane Yehuda-Marketplace
    Mahane Yehuda-Marketplace—join Jerusalemites as they shop for Shabbat in the bustling market. Bargaining for rugelach is great practice for your Hebrew!
  • Prepare for Shabbat
  • Shabbat in Sultan's Pool and travel to the Kotel
  • Shabbat Dinner and Oneg Shabbat

  • Accommodations: Jerusalem





    Day 6
  • Morning service by own
  • Time to rest
  • Madrichim's Shabbat activities
  • Asefa (program group conversation)
  • Group leadership activity
  • Havdalah
  • Fun activity—to be determined

    Day 7
  • Leaving Jerusalem and heading back to Tel-Aviv
  • Rabin Square – The site of the assassination of Prime Minister Rabin
  • Free time at Dizengof center for lunch and shopping.
  • Fun activity—to be determined
  • Lodging and Dinner in the Community Center in Ramat HaSharon

  • Accommodations: Community Center—Ramat HaSharon

    Day 8
    "Only with the heart can one see right." Antoine de Saint Exupéry, The Little Prince .
  • We will start the day by helping disabled children
  • Dialogue in the Dark - Get to know the world and other people without the benefit of your sense of sight, Dialogue in The Dark is an exhibition which tries to take as its starting point the non-visual perceptions of blind people in order to discover the unseen within and all around us.
  • Jaffa : The Old City & flea market
  • NaLaga'at Center- A Stage for the Deaf-Blind. We will open the evening by dinner in "BLACKOUT", a unique experience of fine dining in total darkness, accompanied by blind waiters.
  • Finish the day at the show -"Not by Bread Alone" .The Nalaga'at Theater actors are Deaf-Blind. Some have traces of sight, some have traces of hearing, some are totally blind and some are totally deaf .
  • Back to the RHCC for Tisha B'Av programming

  • Accommodations: Community Center – Ramat HaSharon

    Day 9
  • Head to Jerusalem
  • Yad Vashem—the Holocaust's Martyrs and Heroes Remembrance Site of memorials, museums, exhibits and monuments. Explore what forms of leadership were formed in these difficult times.
  • Walk through the Jewish Quarter—the alleyways and the streets of the Jewish quarter of the Old City tell the story of those who lived 2000 years ago, and those who live here today...
  • The Kotel—the central, most significant site to the Jewish people.
  • Dinner and free time in Ben Yehuda St.

  • Accommodations: Community Center – Ramat HaSharon

    Day 10
  • Service projects at BINA
  • Travel south to Judaean Desert
  • Staff activities (Leadership—Jewish leadership from the bible till today)
  • Travel to Ramat Hasharon
  • Dinner at Kfar Hanokdim

  • Accommodations: Kfar Hanokdim Bedouin Tent

    Day 11
  • Hiking Masada and viewing a beautiful sunrise at the top
  • Breakfast on top of Masada
  • Hiking Nachal David
  • Relaxing at the Dead Sea
  • Camel rides—saddle up!
  • Dinner: Bedouin Hospitality
  • Bonfire in the desert

  • Accommodations: Kfar Hanokdim Bedouin Tent

    Day 12
  • Leaving the south and heading to Ramat Hasharon
  • Nachalat Binyamin—enjoy the colorful fair and time for shopping on one of Tel-Aviv's most popular streets.
  • Lunch—At Nachalat Binyamin
  • Beach time in Tel Aviv
  • Travel to Ramat Hasharon
  • Meet your host families and prepare for Shabbat
  • Shabbat Dinner with families

  • Accommodations: Home hospitality in Ramat Hasharon

    Day 13
  • With home hospitality families
  • Meet back at the Ramat HaSharon Community Center after home hospitality
  • Havdalah in Jaffa and Dinner

  • Accommodations: Community Center – Ramat HaSharon


    Day 14
  • Head to North
  • Meet Israeli Ground Forces
  • Head to Lake Kinneret
  • Swim in the Kinneret
  • Interactive games

  • Accommodations: Lake Kinneret

    Day 15
  • 2 Days of outdoor survival training in the North!
  • We will start the survival training at Yardenit ( Jordan River) – Rappelling, flying fox, tying rope, picking food etc…
  • Head to Dalton mountain and prepare for the night
  • Prepare dinner/ night activity

  • Accommodations: Dalton Mountain

    Day 16
  • Head down Dalton Mountain and make our way to Alma cave
  • Explore Alma cave
  • Back to the Kinneret

  • Accommodations: Lake Kinneret

    Day 17
  • Majresse stream and Abu-Kayak site (Park Hayarden)
  • Kayaking at the Jordan River
  • The first camp lighthouse planning session
  • Asefa (program group conversation)

  • Accommodations: Lake Kinneret

    Day 18
  • Head to Tel-Aviv
  • Azrieli Center —49-floor circular tower of Azrieli watch-tower. Visitors can view the Gush Dan metropolitan area, look to the north of Hadera, Ashkelon in southern Judean hills to the east.
  • Planning camp lighthouse
  • Off to the airport!! Goodbye Israel and hello America!!!
