The author of award-winning cookbooks and the host of her own PBS series, Joan Nathan is an internationally recognized expert on food culture and a recent inductee into Who's Who in Wine and Food by the James Beard Foundation. Her new book is Joan Nathan's Jewish Holiday Cookbook. She compares notes with Phyllis Glazer, whose book The Essential Book of Jewish Festival Cooking, explores the Biblical origins of festival foods. Alexandra Leaf is a culinary historian and author of Van Gogh's Table at the Auberge Ravoux: Recipes from the Artist's Last Home and Paintings of Café Life and The Impressionists' Table: Recipes & Gastronomy of 19th-Centry France.

WITH CARA DE SILVA AND BIANCA STEINER BROWN / ALEXANDRA LEAF, MODERATOR

Join us for an unforgettable evening featuring Cara De Silva, editor, and Bianca Steiner Brown, translator of one of the most unusual cookbooks ever published, written by the women of the Terezin concentration camp. In this unique and poignant presentation, De Silva will recount the genesis of this important work and the remarkable survival of the manuscript on which it is based. Ms. Steiner Brown will speak about the book's contents from the very personal perspective of someone interned in the camp for three years.
