New York, NY, August, 1, 2007—This fall, the 92nd Street Y dishes up a variety of programs for those who love food: cooking it, eating it, and talking about it. The Y's lecture series welcomes culinary talents MARCO PIERRE WHITE, Britain's first-ever Michelin three-starred chef; THOMAS KELLER, the chef of The French Laundry, Per Se, Bouchon and Bouchon Bakery; WILLIAM GRIMES, the former restaurant critic of The New York Times; and CHRISTOPHER KIMBALL of America's Test Kitchen. MIKE COLAMECO and FRANCINE SEGAN return to the Y with new cooking demos and tastings. Food outings offer a behind-the-scenes look at some of New York's intriguing foodie locales, including the Bronx's Arthur Avenue, the East Village and backstage at Martha Stewart Living TV.
LECTURES AND TASTINGS

Tue, Sep 25, Tue Oct 16, Tue Dec 11, and Tue Jan 15, 7 pm, $35
FRANCINE SEGAN'S WORLD OF TASTING
Renowned food historian Francine Segan returns to the 92nd Street Y by popular demand. The author of The Philosopher's Kitchen, Shakespeare's Table, Movie Menus, and The Opera Lover's Cookbook presents a tasting and lecture series that explores the past and present of our favorite foods and drinks from (A)pple pie to (Z)eppolis.
Sep 25: No matter how you slice it, pies are a fascinating part of food lore and culture — as Segan reveals in PIE: TASTING AND HISTORY. She explores the story behind pie eating contests, the three-foot-high pasta pies served to Italian royalty, and why the expression "American as apple pie" is grossly untrue.
Oct 16: Get your caffeine fix at COFFEE: TASTING AND HISTORY as Segan demonstrates how to brew a perfect cup of coffee, how to cook with it, and how it traveled to Java and beyond. Examine raw and roasted beans and taste several coffee varieties.
Dec 11: LA DOLCE VITA: ITALIAN DESSERT TASTING satisfies your sweet tooth with anecdotes (and nibbles!) of sublime Italian desserts like cannoli, gelato, rum baba, biscotti, granita, and more. You'll even get a chance to be creative as Segan demonstrates various techniques for sculpting marzipan.
Jan 15: Take a peek at hilarious sitcom foodie moments at TV DINNERS: FAMOUS TELEVISION FOOD SCENES AND TASTING. Watch amusing commercials, trace the evolution of TV cooking shows, find out about the special preparations required for TV and learn how actors cope with eating while doing dozens of takes (think Lucille Ball and Veeta-Vita-Vegamin).
