For talented young musicians — a one-week piano intensive with daily practice, lessons with our expert faculty and classes in performance, musicianship, listening and movement.

92Y Music School is offering two week-long summer piano workshops for young pianists ages 8-16. Exceptions made for participants under 8. (For participants over 16, please see Piano Workshop for Adults.) One year of piano lessons and basic music reading skilled are required. Activities will include daily practice, lessons, duets, music history, vocal, rhythm, composition, improvisation, performance and movement classes. Class topics will change in second week. Final concert with all students will take place on Saturday, July 22 and Saturday, July 29 at the Weill Art Gallery. Reference letter from your teacher including most recent pieces studied and video representative of your playing by June 23 is required; please note that you may register before submitting a video.     Jenny Lin is one of the most respected young pianists today, admired for her adventurous programming and charismatic stage presence. Her performances have taken her to venues such as Carnegie Recital Hall, Kennedy Center, Miller Theatre, MoMA and the Whitney Museum, as well as at Chopin, Archipel, Flanders, Ars Musica, BAM's Next Wave and Spoleto USA Festivals. Highlights of this season include appearances with Orchestra Sinfonica Nationale della RAI in Italy, SWR Rundfunkorchester in Germany and an Asia Tour to Singapore and Malaysia. Her recordings can be found on Koch International Classics, Hänssler Classic, BIS Records. She is also the subject of the documentary, Zahara, by Elemental Films Spain.     Pianist Tania Tachkova has been praised by critics for performances that are “white-hot” and “very impressive.” She has appeared as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician throughout the United States and in Europe at prestigious venues such as the Wiener Saal at Mozarteum (Austria), Centro de Bellas Artes and Museo del Arte (Puerto Rico), Harris Hall (Aspen), Sarasota Opera House (Sarasota), the National Palace of Culture and the Great Bulgaria Hall (Bulgaria). She has been featured as a soloist with the Orchestra of the State Academy of Music (Sofia), Shoumen Philharmonic, Razgrad Philharmonic and with the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra as the winner of the 2006 Concerto Competition. Her performances have been broadcast on radio and television, including WQXR, WITF and Bulgarian National Television.     Jamie Reynolds is a freelance jazz pianist in New York City. He teaches group piano and private jazz piano and composition lessons at the 92nd Street Y.

    Jamie is very active on the jazz scene and performs regularly with some of New York's finest musicians. He has toured across Canada and the United States and Europe and can be heard regularly in clubs around the city.

    Jamie received a Bachelor of Music with honors in jazz performance from the University of Toronto.

    Instructor: Liana Pailodze  show bio

    Liana Pailodze Harron is a versatile pianist and educator, accomplished in both classical and contemporary styles of music. A soloist since the age of eight, she has been featured with the Shilakadze Chamber Orchestra, the Georgian Television Orchestra, the Georgian Symphonic Orchestra, the Frost Symphony Orchestra and the Frost Wind Ensemble. Equally at home as an ensemblist, Liana has performed in varying chamber settings at venues across the United States and Europe, including Carnegie Hall, Benaroya Hall, Arsht Center, Lincoln Center and the New World Center.

    Born in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, Liana first studied piano at the Paliashvili Music School for Gifted Children. She went on to receive her Doctoral degree in piano performance at the University of Miami, graduating cum laude. Who is eligible for priority registration?

Individuals who have participated in 92nd Street Y programs over the past year in selected program areas, participants in certain memberships, and those who have made contributions of $500 or more to 92Y, are eligible to register for programs before they become available to the general public.

How do I know if I qualify?

Patrons that qualify for Priority Registration will receive packets in the mail explaining how to purchase online. Priority registration is normally mailed 2-3 weeks before a catalog is available. Registration information includes your Patron ID#. You can use this ID# to setup your login information online. This will allow you to register early for a course or event. Please note: if you receive a packet, you are only eligible to priority register for the programs covered in your packet.
