Enid Blount Press
Clarinetist Enid Blount Press has a diverse musical career in the New York area, ranging from solo work and new music ensembles to orchestral and popular music, as well as a variety of teaching. She has performed at many of the major performance venues in New York, including both Stern Auditorium and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, Merkin Recital Hall, and the Knitting Factory, as well as at numerous other national venues. Enid has played a wide variety of new music concerts as a soloist and with groups such as Forecast Music and Vox Novus. Her performances in both Chamber Ensembles and as a soloist have taken her to London and on tours across Germany, Italy and the United States. She is currently the bass clarinetist of an indie-rock group called Angels in the Chamber and is a clarinetist with the Connecticut Little Symphony.
Ms. Press holds the M.M. degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of Southern California, B.M. from Oberlin Conservatory and she also studied at the NC School of the Arts, University of Arizona, and Mannes College of Music. She enjoys teaching clarinet and saxophone to students of all levels. Enid also teaches Music Together classes in Westchester County and loves being a Teaching Artist for 92nd Street Y’s Musical Introduction Series.
