Bonita Labossiere has been a teaching artist for almost 40 years. During the 1970s, Bonita was one of a small group of performers exploring the impact of academic integration through the arts, in Virginia and Massachusetts. Since that time, the field has opened and expanded to such a degree that it has afforded Bonita wonderful opportunities which have included travel and academic work not only in the United States, but also in Canada and Finland as the Program Director in New York City for Learning Through the Arts, out of The Royal Conservatory of Music, in Toronto.
As a professional singer, writer, coach, director and producer, Bonita has built an umbrella organization called The Visualized Voice which creates original theatrical productions that have been seen at The Duplex and The Producer’s Club, as well as other New York City theaters, over the last 3 decades. She also sits on the Board of Directors of Art/No Art Productions which has produced the comedic short film Naked Boy, which Bonita directed.
Currently, Ms. Labossiere is working as a teaching artist with a focus on integrating academics through Choral Music and Musical Theatre, and is thrilled to have been given this opportunity by 92Y.
