Cello, Theory Instructor
Aminda Asher holds a B.M. in cello performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and a M.M. in Orchestral Performance from the Manhattan School of Music. Ms. Asher has appeared in concerts at many of New York’s greatest performance venues including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and Zankel Hall, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Rose Studio, Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, Bargemusic, and (Le) Poisson Rouge. She has performed with several regional orchestras in the New York metropolitan area including the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, Riverside Symphonia, The Chelsea Symphony and Astoria Symphony, and has also played for several musical theater productions with the Prospect Theater Company and Making Books Sing.
Outside of New York, Ms. Asher has performed with the New World Symphony in Miami, Fl, and the Santo Domingo Music Festival Orchestra in the Dominican Republic, as well as participating in the intensive summer study programs at the Music Academy of the West and the Banff Centre of the Arts Chamber Music Residency Program. An avid chamber musician, she regularly plays with a variety of chamber ensembles including neoLIT; a chamber group dedicated to performing contemporary music with a special emphasis on the programming of works by women composers.
Ms. Asher has held several teaching positions in the New York area, including the Summer Music Camp at the Manhattan School of Music, and is currently on the teaching faculties of the Herald Music School in Flushing, NY, and the Newark School of the Arts.
