Andy Coppola was born in 1971 and raised in Northern Virginia, just outside D.C. He studied sculpture at Virginia Commonwealth University then took his figurative skills and interests to Universal Studios in Florida. In 2000 he found performance art as a conceptual response to skilled figurative work and brought his ideas to Europe, South Korea and the Southern Atlantic States. He returned to the object of sculpture in 2006 in his studies at The New York Academy of Art, graduating cum laude, and currently works in Brooklyn. Andy incorporates his understanding of the figure from these various backgrounds to broaden the relationship between individuals and object, “more will be revealed.”
