This original flamenco performance depicts the personal and ancestral journey of a Sephardic woman from her family’s expulsion from Spain, to their life in Persia, to her return to Spain as a flamenco dancer.

Created and performed by acclaimed flamenco dancer Leilah Broukhim, this highly personal work is an intimate expression of Ms. Broukhim’s roots, her personal journey and the history of her people. Accompanied by Sephardic, Persian and Flamenco music performed by an international ensemble, the result is a moving and unforgettable work of music, dance and art, which reminds us that the traces of our past define our present and our future. U.S. premiere of the full production of Dejando Huellas, parts of which were previewed last year at 92Y as a work in progress.
