Meridith Szalay

Meridith Szalay is a Long Island native who holds a BFA in Dance from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and has also studied at Seiskaya Ballet Academy, Stony Brook University and the American Dance Festival at Duke University. As a professional dancer, Meridith has performed at Avery Fisher Hall, The Smithsonian in DC, The Theater for a New City, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, The Duke on 42nd Street, The NYC Dance Parade, Randall’s Island, The Museum of the Moving Image, The Roy Arias Theater and various venues throughout Europe while on the Hip-Hop dance tour with KRS-ONE. She also has a varied background working in film and television, playing Downtown Julie Brown in The Biography Channel’s “Celebrity Ghost Stories,” and appearing in the educational web series “Math Warriors,” the Bollywood film “Kal Ho Naa Ho” and Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality” music video on MTV.

Meridith teaches in public schools and academies in New York City and Long Island through Ballet Hispanico, 92nd Street Y, Gelsey Kirkland Academy, Soul Arts Academy and Studio 3. She is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA,  has participated in Dance Education Laboratory at 92Y, and is a certified WonderDance instructor.
