Celia is an artist and arts educator with an extensive background working with public schools, universities, non-proﬁt institutions and community organizations. She has wide experience in fostering inventive and motivating approaches to art education through teaching artist residencies, professional development workshops and ongoing research into the theory and practice of art education.
Celia’s broad-based pedagogical skills were gained through positions as a Teaching Artist for Lehman College Art Gallery and BRIC Media Arts Brooklyn, as a Professor of Art Education at Pratt Institute, and as a Professional Development Facilitator in arts integration for New York City Department of Education teachers and principals, as well as librarians for both the New York and Brooklyn Public Libraries.
Passionate about providing high quality art education to all students and committed to raising the standards of integrated learning through the arts, Celia has a Masters Degree in Art and Design Education from Pratt Institute, and has presented to the National Art Education Association. In addition, she is currently a visiting lecturer for the Department of Art and Design Education at Pratt Institute, and is a contributing writer to Teaching Artist Journal's Craft Anthology.
