The camp is staffed by highly trained and experienced early childhood educators who bring creativity and energy to each camp day. Children at K'Ton Ton participate in a range of activities every day. Campers enjoy our three outdoor play spaces (including a covered roof terrace), participate in fun and creative art projects and engage in many imaginative and open-ended summer activities. Central to camp is our swim program. The swim program is led by Red Cross-certified instructors of the Aquatics Department at 92nd Street Y. The children swim in one of our three pools, two of which are located outdoors. Campers also participate in many enrichment activities led by early childhood specialists, including music, movement, gymnastics, sports and games and science.
Camp K'Ton Ton partners with Super Soccer Stars to offer soccer to campers that stay from 9 am to 1 pm and longer.
Weekly Wednesday lunches are provided to the whole camp. Every Wednesday we have a different lunch theme. For example: pizza and popsicles, breakfast for lunch/pajama day, and pasta day. Our campers who stay until noon also participate in the lunches as a special snack.
Prior to Camp K’TonTon, our son would only “swim” if he had a life jacket on and he would cling to one of us, and refuse to put his head in the water. After only 8 days of camp, he seems more confident and relaxed in the water. He didn’t want the life jacket, and he was willing to get his face wet. He wanted to show us how he could “swim” on his own! We can’t wait to see what the next few weeks will bring.
Thank you. Ivy Silverman
Camp K’TonTon is a wonderful program. The counselors/teachers are experienced, nurturing and terrific. The activities are great! Even the sports and games counselor incorporates imaginative play into the activities. My five year old son is mastering swimming. He is delighted with his camp experience and we are too.
