Director of Support Operations, LÄife Safety & Security
As Director of Support Operations, Life Safety & Security, Adam Hammerman oversees the 92nd Street Y's offices of Finance, Information Technology (IT), Facility Operations, Sales & Customer Service, and Life Safety & Security. Founded in 1874, 92Y offers more than 35 distinct educational, performing arts, fitness, health, social and family programs that serve more than 300,000 people annually.
As Director of Life Safety & Security, Mr. Hammerman is responsible for the safety of each visitor and staff member and is the liaison with city, state and federal security offices. As Director of Support Operations, he manages all budgeting, financial reporting, audit and insurance matters; oversees the operation of the Y's three facilities as well as the Box Office, Y-Charge and Sales & Customer Service Departments; and directs an IT operation serving a full-time staff of over 300 and an e-commerce-capable Website generating 40 percent of 92Y's revenue. Mr. Hammerman supervises over 120 people and works closely with the Associate Executive Director for Administration & Finance, the Board of Directors, and the Human Resources, Development, Marketing and Programming staffs.
Among Mr. Hammerman's key achievements are implementing more efficient budget and financial systems, reducing institutional expenses and creating more accurate cash-flow projections. He is in the process of upgrading the 92nd Street Y's security system, incorporating cutting edge technology to better protect 92Y community.
Adam Hammerman is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-CC) and is an on-call volunteer in Manhattan, Riverdale and Rockland. With thousands of visitors daily and a large staff, the 92nd Street Y has benefited from his emergency medical expertise on many occasions.
Mr. Hammerman has worked at 92Y almost without interruption since 1992, when he joined as Staff Accountant. He was promoted to Controller in 1995 and in 2003, was named Director of Support Operations, Life Safety & Security, after returning to 92Y following a year spent as Deputy Director for Finance at the Museum of the City of New York.
Adam Hammerman earned a B.A. in Accounting and Information Systems at Queens College.
