Since 1939, the Unterberg Poetry Center's Writing Program has offered students of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to hone their skills as writers and deepen their appreciation as readers, with programs ranging from introductory classes to literary seminars to advanced writing workshops.
Introductory classes show readers the way into writing. Advanced workshops offer MFA-caliber instruction without requiring a full-time commitment. Master classes give our students the opportunity to work with selected writers who are visiting New York to read at the Poetry Center.
For introductory writing workshops and literary seminars, enrollment is open.
Registration for all advanced workshops is by permission only: students are chosen by instructors on the basis of manuscript submission. Students may mail applications or submit them online.

Scholarship assistance is available for Poetry Center classes. For more information, please visit 92Y’s Scholarship Program. Scholarship applications must be received by the manuscript deadline for advanced courses; they also must be sent the address on the form.
Students will have the opportunity to be published in the Unterberg Poetry Center’s online literary magazine, Podium.
If you have questions about manuscript submission or any other aspect of the Writing Program, please contact the Poetry Center at 212.415.5760 or email.
