In recognition of Richard Williams' 80th birthday, 92YTribeca is proud to present a retrospective of some of the master animator's best short animated films, commercials and sequences.
Whether it was selling insurance, after shave, or soda pop, Williams and his team went beyond the expectations of their clients and delivered short works of art and craftsmanship, full of adventure, humor, and wonder. Also included in the screening will be a few of Williams' brilliant animated title sequences from feature films—so remarkable and dazzling that they were often more memorable than the feature films they were attached to. Finally, the evening will conclude with a screening of Williams' extremely rare but critically acclaimed 30-minute epic, The Little Island (1958), a philosophical debate expressed with imaginative visuals, music and sound instead of any dialogue at all.
Program running time: 70 min. BluRay.
Part of the Richard Williams series.
Ticket Price: $12, Film Club Member $8.
