Following the recent victory for marriage equality in New York, the New Israel Fund and 92YTribeca invite you to celebrate and support freedom of marriage for all on the Jewish holiday of love, Tu B’Av.
Host Amy Klein (The MOTH, The New York Times, The Jerusalem Post) will lead a stellar line-up of storytellers focusing on the themes of love, marriage and relationships in an evening of celebration and hope for a future when everyone can choose who and how to marry.
This Tu B’Av, August 15th, hundreds of supporters of marriage equality will gather in Tel Aviv for the public wedding ceremony of Inna and Pavel—Israeli citizens from the former Soviet Union who cannot legally marry in Israel because only Jewish religious ceremonies are recognized by the state. As well as celebrating their marriage, this pluralistic wedding will help raise awareness of marriage equality in Israel and beyond. Partners include: Bnai Jeshurun Tze’irim, Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, Foundation for Jewish Culture, Keshet, Kol Zimra, the National Council of Jewish Women NY Section, Nehirim and the Reform Jewish Voice of New York State.
