Tall Heights / Little Sur / Will Stratton

Indie record label Young Giant brings together three emerging artists from New England's folk-rock scene for a harmony-filled night.

Boston-based duo Tall Heights blends “a mellifluous mix of guitar, cello and vocal harmonies.” They are "a fixture in the city’s folk/rock scene" and play "music that is pretty, passion-laden and catchy as hell.” (Performer Magazine) They've been headlining packed houses across New England and performing alongside national acts like David Wilcox, Barefoot Truth and Andrew Belle, in addition to recent performances here in New York. Don't miss their first performance on the 92YTribeca mainstage.

Little Sur is a group of friends dedicated to making folk music in a metropolitan setting. Inspired by rich sonic textures and poetic lyricism, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Josh Meer leads a revolving cast of creative collaborators who each add their own influences and imagery to the ever-evolving aesthetic of the group. Their sound combines the rustic orchestrations of folk music with the instrumental timbres and lyrical musings of modern day indie-rock. The result is both cinematic and emotional, harnessing the authenticity of roots music and the experimentation awarded with contemporary means.

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Will Stratton will kick off the night. Describes David Garland of NPR Music, “Will Stratton’s songs are beautiful and bracing, despite — or maybe because of — the abstract, ambitious goals that motivate him…[his] songs gain strength from their ambiguity; stylistically, they’re too imaginative to be easily pigeonholed. Sufjan Stevens and Nick Drake both work as reference points; like them, Stratton makes songs that are elegantly orchestrated. But Stratton is rapidly coming into his own.”

$10 adv / $12 day of show.
