What is the Live From NY's 92Y™ (92Y Live) program?

Live from NY's 92nd Street Y™ (“92Y Live”) is an outreach, marketing and sales initiative of 92nd Street Y (“92Y”), 92Y.org, a leading community and cultural center in New York City. Live leverages existing programming and production assets by simulcasting, via private webcast, 92Y’s cultural and educational programs to community organizations across North America.

92Y Live webcasts panel discussions, interviews, readings and other events featuring distinguished presenters from around the world to organizations across North America that would not otherwise have access to this high-quality programming.

What is a webcast?

It is a simulcast video broadcast of an event transmitted across the Internet.

Do locations get to participate?

Yes! One of the most attractive aspects of 92Y Live is its interactive nature. People in remote locations ask questions of our speakers via email, and all distant locations are welcomed by name at the beginning of each event. Our ability to create a simultaneous continental community center environment has been praised by many of our participants as an added feature that brings them back time after time for future broadcasts. We are proud to have you as part of our community!

Will there be a list of upcoming 92Y Live webcasts?

The 92Y Live page, 92Y.org/Live, will list upcoming events available exclusively through the 92Y Live program. This page will be updated as more information on the programs is added.

Elie Wiesel, Alan Dershowitz, Malcolm Gladwell, Brian Williams, Dr. Madeleine Albright and Gene Wilder are just a few of the luminaries who have participated in the program.

Can my organization charge for 92Y Live events?

Yes. It is up to your organization how you would like to proceed with screening 92Y Live events in your community.

What about exclusivity?

92Y can no longer offer exclusivity for specific geographic locations. However, the 92Y Live program will continue to be exclusively for 92Y Live partner groups and organizations.

Are DVDs available?

Yes. DVDs are available at the following rates: $180 per DVD or three for $500. Please visit the order form for a list of DVDs available for purchase and to place your order.

Why are some 92Y events offered as Live programs and others are not?

There are a number of factors that go into selecting the programs to be included in 92Y Live. We strive to offer programs that will appeal to the wide audience of our partner organizations and represent the best of what 92Y has to offer. However, because the programming at 92Y is continually being added to, there are occasions when a speaker is confirmed without sufficient time for our partner organizations to plan and market their own events. In addition to this, sometimes we may not be able to secure the appropriate permissions from participants in order to offer a program as a Live webcast event. For each 92Y Live season, we work diligently to offer a diverse set of 9-12 programs to our partner organizations.

Can I order DVDs of events that aren’t listed on the order form?

It may be possible for 92Y to offer DVDs of events that are not included in the Live program if there is enough interest in an event and the appropriate permissions are secured. If you are interested in a program that is not currently part of the 92Y Live offerings, please email us.

Are promotional and marketing materials available?

Yes. As always, you may use the photos and speaker information listed on the 92Y Live Private Client site for marketing your events. Please also read our toolkits under the “Resources & Toolkits” menu at the top for additional promotional ideas and suggestions.

How long has 92Y Live existed?

Now in its thirteenth year, 92Y Live has presented more than 280 programs and served over 300 institutions since its inception.

What can you tell me about 92nd Street Y?

Founded 140 years ago to serve the Jewish people, 92nd Street Y promotes individual and family development and participation in civic life within the context of Jewish values and American pluralism. As a nonprofit community and cultural center, 92nd Street Y seeks to create, provide and disseminate programs of distinction that foster the physical and mental health of human beings throughout their lives, their educational and spiritual growth and their enjoyment. 92nd Street Y reaches out beyond its core constituency of American Jews to serve people of diverse racial, religious, ethnic and economic backgrounds, seeking partnerships that leaven our programs and broaden our influence.
