Michal Samama is a New York based Israeli choreographer and performer. She is a Movement Research 2011-2013 Artist-in-Residence, recently gained a LiftOff Residency at New Dance Alliance and has been a “The Field” Artist-in-Residence (Fall 2010). Since arriving to NYC in 2010 her choreography has been presented at Dixon Place, Movement Research at Judson Church, Joyce SoHo, 92nd Street Y, Priska C. Juschka Fine Art Gallery and Chez Bushwick. In Israel her work has been shown in many prominent venues including Suzanne Dellal Center for Dance and Theater, Tmuna Theater, Tzavta Theater and more. Michal holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from ‘Ha-kibbutzim’ Teachers College (Tel Aviv), where she studied dance and choreography. She also studied theater and performance art at the Interdisciplinary Art Program, Search Engine School, founded by Yasmeen Godder and Itzik Giuli. Michal was the Director of Dance Program in The Conservatory of Or-Yehuda (Israel) and has taught modern dance classes and choreography in various schools in Israel.
