Matthew Fischer lives and works in New York City. He makes oil paintings as well as drawings with ink and other water media. His work is influenced by the natural world, Western fiction and Paleolithic art. He attended Columbia University School of the Arts where he received an MFA in Visual Art. He has been an artist in residence at The Edward F. Albee Foundation in Montauk, NY, The Lighthouse Works on Fishers Island, NY and The Vermont Studio Center. Before moving to New York, Fischer was the studio manager of the painting and drawing program at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, CO. Fischer has shown at Jack Tilton Gallery in New York.
