Julie Fisher studied ballet at the Miami Conservatory under the discipline of Thomas Armour of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, the School of American Ballet, the Royal Academy of London, the Joffrey Ballet, and danced professionally with the Boston Ballet and Connecticut Ballet Theatre. She began her Pilates training with Joseph Pilates’ protégé Carola Trier at the age of 13 and continued with Robert Fitzgerald, Peter Vaillancourt and eventually to Sari Meija Santo and Romana Kryzanowska with whom she received her Romana’s Pilates Certification making her a 2nd Generation Pilates Instructor. She has studied many forms of bodywork including Zena Rommett’s floor barre in which she can be seen in the original first released video, is Certified in the Pilates Triad Ball, MELT Hand & Foot Certified, Pre & Post Natal Fitness Certified, a Yoga Tune Up Therapy Ball Practitioner, Yogafit Certified and has taught at True Pilates, Uptown Pilates, the West Side YMCA, City College of New York, the Redbulls Soccer Academy as well as private clientele of her own through BrilliantbodiesbyjulieLLC and most recently was chosen for the newly released book Starting Pilates-Featuring 21 Interviews with Top Instructors. A Certified Personal Trainer since 1992 with a B.S. in Health Education and a Minor in Dance, her strategies and specific exercise assignments have a direct relationship to the principles of all kinds of sports, movement and dance. She has taught ballet in California and New York in addition to teaching Pilates and Body Conditioning for dancers at the Joffrey Ballet School, the Gelsey Kirkland Academy, American Theater Dance Workshop and a variety of dancers from the American Ballet Theater, New York City Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Hubbard Street, Ballet West, Pennsylvania Ballet, Boston Ballet and the Frankfurt Ballet. Her excitement, enthusiasm and passion for teaching is backed by a continued love for dancers making supplemental training key in keeping them strong and healthy.
