Debra Orenstein has been teaching children and adults for over 30 years including over 15 years teaching at 92Y as part of the Isadora for Children Program under the direction of Dr. Jeanne Bresciani. She is also a member of The Isadora Duncan International Institute Dancers Dance Company. Debra holds a B.S. Degree in Interdisciplinary Arts for Children/Dance Emphasis from SUNY Brockport and a Master’s Degree in Education (Special Education) from Hunter College. Her post graduate work also includes pre-school and elementary education and dance therapy. Debra is permanently certified in Pre-school, Nursery, Elementary Education and Special Education in New York City, New York State and New Jersey. Debra has been a Special Education classroom teacher, Teacher Trainer and Adaptive Physical Education Teacher for The New York City Dept. of Education. She has been a Creative Arts Specialist for The School for Communication Development and Movement Specialist for private nursery schools in New York City. She is on the teaching faculty at Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts Extension Division in New Jersey and The Main Street Theatre and Dance Alliance in New York City. She also teaches a Moving Stories Program combining age appropriate children’s literature and movement for pre-school children and their caregivers.
